So If I was to scroll through the top say, 50 anime on crunchyroll I wouldn't see these same old shonen and magical girl tropes over and over? Teenage high school kids in coming of age stories acting badass, dealing with sexual angst and kicking monster ass, themes of friendship and so on? No, we both know that would be almost entirely the entire fucking crunchyroll catalogue. Thing is dude, I say this as a guy who enjoys anime more than sports. I just have the presence of mind to realise that liking anime is in no way higher culture or more serious than liking sports.
