It's the latest viral hashtag, meant to illustrate how common sexual abuse and assault is. Usually it's accompanied by this text:

If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote "Me too." as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem.

A lot of my friends are participating. It's really common. Here are some numbers:

Notably, around 35% of women globally have been victims of intimate partner and sexual violence. Kind of topical right now given the whole Harvey Weinstein and pretty much every account being that it's not just one perverted man, it's systemic in Hollywood. It's not just systemic in Hollywood. It's systemic everywhere.
In the face of these numbers I think it's really hard to not consider patriarchy a real, actual thing.
