As if they both weren't the absoluete worst.

No, the absolute worst was Bernie Sanders followed by either Ben Carson or Ted "I don't know if sand can glow, but we're find out" Cruz. While there were no great candidates, there were no end of mediocre or awful ones.

Bernie Sanders has his heart in the right place, but he's too against the grain and it would be a mess. Russia needs a czar, and America needs limited government. What works for Canada or Sweden doesn't apply to the USA because it sounds nice. That's an oversimplification a lot of Bernie supporters failed to realize. I liked Bernie, but I'm also a cultural hodgepodge of Canadian, British, and Prussian elements and will never see things the same way Americans do. I can't. Most cultures are steeped in centuries of tradition, and some things are a square peg on a round hole. Socialist America is one of those things.

Winston Churchill had some quote along the lines of "taxing a country to make it prosperous is like standing in a bucket and trying to lift it with the handle." He was right about a lot of shit, including that and Operation: Unthinkable... Be that as it may, my point is that American values are quite divergent from the rest of the Anglosphere and even NW Europe as a whole, as similar as we all seem.
