My Qubcois friends have had experiences where they spoke in English, had someone behind them in line complain in French at the Anglophones invading and destroying Quebec culture, and then my friends would switch back to perfect French to tell them off. This happened in Montreal, of all places. This happens A LOT there. You can be talking to someone else who is also speaking English, and they will still get pissy about it. I'm fluent in French, but I was talking to someone who was speaking English.
