Topic	Why is everyone hypnotized by Nintendo?

Do people really like and identify as these characters? Mario is not about character, it's about game mechanics being basically the pinnacle of 2D platformers for well over a decade. Zelda is great at world building and telling an interesting story about that world. While each character represented is basically a cliche archetype, the world is interesting, and usually the villain is pretty interesting as well. About Mario -- why wouldn't you want or expect both from a game? People just play mario for the gameplay facet.? What an empty reason. It has sustained and endured because the jump physics are spot on? I think i play games for different reasons than nintendo fans.
