You're saying that in the most literal sense the quote is without context. I think I agree to that much. I'm saying - and also that maybe this is just a personal thing - that when you say a quote is taken out of context in this context, it ascribes intent to distort the meaning behind the quote. That's the kind of thing I think you can't make a definitive statement on without actually having seen and judged the whole thing, context included, for yourself.
Personally, based on history, I doubt that any context exists that would really alter that quote and read as-is fits what I'd expect but I won't make any declarative statement to that because I'm just too lazy to watch the video. >_>
Hypothetically, were I wrong here I wouldn't say my reaction was out-of-context, just that it was wrong because I was uninformed.
i don't know. i think i just get hung up on technical stuff like this more than any reasonable person.
I am not making an assertion of the quote. I am saying I don't know the context to assess it.
Then I asked lordloki why he wouldn't want the context to assess it also?
End of the day, I don't care about the quote enough to watch a 30 minute video on it. Like I said, if it's that bad, there will be a video snippet of it at some point on a mainstream news site. ---
