yahoo messenger still exist

They shut that down a year or so ago. Apparently people in the oil industry used it to a high degree.

Anyway, sucks to see it go. I haven't used it since like 2008. I use to enjoy chatting to various animators from Newgrounds and artist from Deviant and sheezy art. Not to mention forums such as this one and the Adult Swim boards back in like 2003. I met a lot of really cool, and interesting people on aim that I lost touch with when social media took over and we all drifted away.

Sucks that the last bastions of old online chat sans IRC is going away. From cutting my teeth in the MSN chat rooms, to aim/yahoo, msn, and skype. I've tried things like discord but its not the same nor as fun.

Still remember the last person I chatted to on aim. It was RikkuSwirls.
Yahoo Messenger still exists, at least technically. They just forced people to migrate to their new client after redoing the protocol in a way that makes it useless (for example you can't tell if anyone is online). Also ICQ still exists in some form (as far as I'm aware AIM's closure isn't effecting them), there's XMPP (although no one really used it until Google took advantage of it), and a few other older regional chat programs that still exist.
