I'm not sure what you're referring to exactly, but Corrik has a long history of saying inflammatory things in the moment (it's what trolls do) and then denying he ever said them later, when he's trying to bolster his credibility.

The issue is that we spent an entire topic hashing out Corrik's view point which is that teaching kids that transgender people exist prior to age 12ish is wrong, not that kids should be taught to think less of transgender people (he was clear on this point a good dozen times or so). The former is a point of criticism (since it can easily allow negative views to form anyway) but it's fairly tame; the latter would be pretty offensive but it's not what he actually thinks. The post I was objecting to is claiming that Corrik's ignorance of transgender issues means he wants to teach kids to fear and murder transgender people. It's trying to make him look way more extreme than he actually is because it's way easier to get angry at the extreme position than to explain the problems with the more nuanced one.

Holy shit. Is someone in these topics actually going to start actually going by what I say and not spin my comments to what they want them to say?

(That said, Panthera is the person who cut off my quote earlier to make it look bad... I think... = / )lordloki12 posted...
Corrik wasn't just ignorant in his views either and the fact he spent that whole topic trying to walk it back doesnt mean we have to fall for it.

I walked back not a single thing and stood by what I said from the get go.

But to remember, this entire discussion started because I posted an article and said how parents were taking their kids out of the school over it (after going off in a school board meeting) and how the facebook posts on that article from the Pittsburgh affiliate was slamming the school regarding the issue.

Now, that was all that was said. And, I believe, that the very first response to that was Gmun making some sort of insult towards those parents.

Not that it really set the wrong tone of the discussion because it seems everyone on the left bar maybe 1 one or 2 just belligerently insulted anyone who posted in support of those parents positions. In fact, maybe it was a very good start to get a feel for just how you would treat someone in regards to the topic who didn't agree with you.

However, I really don't think the responses were proportional to the disagreement at hand.

I would actually point to Lopen's argument in the feminist starving herself topic that you guys specifically go out of your way to be rude or belligerent to certain users just because you want to paint them as awfully as you can in your mind to satisfy whatever preconceived notions you have about them already, no matter what their actual statements or content is.
