@apolloooo

(EDIT: This is for chapter 2 on first game, not SC aka Second chapter game)
I just got to Ruan.

Game feels alright and I am enjoying it. The music is great, but gets a bit repetitive since they reuse some music to a lot of places. Art-style is not a favorite, but a bit PSX nostalgia I guess. Character portraits are good tho.

The game feels super linear, I mean it's basically the same linear roads you walk between places. Battles are interesting, and it was nice to get a bit of strategy needed like for positioning and such, but it feels unpolished if you want to do strategy like moving an enemy one square etc, wish you could've attacked after you moved. But it really feels rewarding when you fight a hard battle like some of the chest ones and you win it.
The orbment system was a bit confusing at first, but it's interesting as well. I wish it was expanded more though, it feels a bit simple in the end.
I do like that you can't really over-level easily which I hate in other RPGs.

The story at this point isn't that enthralling I guess, there was the mystery of the missing airship, but that got solved. The leader of the sky pirates seemed to be possessed by something, so I guess that's part of what's happening later on. This game seems to do the thing with changing characters and such, and I miss having the other 2 in my party now.

I'm not sure about the characters either.
Estelle is just so annoying, I hate her, I hope she grows up and matures. Joshua is kinda bland with some mystery background. Scherazard was the most interesting this far, but still a creepy woman getting drunk and wanting to get the kids drunk as well. Olivier is a walking stereotype of everything ugh, tho the twist at start of chapter 2 made him more interesting I guess.

The whole "will they or won't they" relationship with Estelle and Joshua is creepy and annoying, I really hope they address the incestuous nature of it if they hook up.
So overall, not sold on the characters, I just hope there is some good development for them later on.

The BEST part of the game is the world however. Never in any jRPG have I seen this kind of world, where it feels like a real world. Talking to random NPCs in a town that are nameless and whatnot never gave me anything, I just did it in hope of they might give me something. But now I interact with them and read what they are saying, and it feels like the characters are real in the world. Then there are the books and stuff you could read.

I am enjoying the game, the world is interesting and look forward to see that get explored more, the game-play and battles keep it interesting. I hope for more better character development and less repetitive looking and sounding areas
