It was based on the content that they were spilling. Instead of focusing on looks and boyfriends, it focuses on education and advancing your career. The graphic designer was saying what the magazine should be about, not what it looks like. I get what you're saying but I respectfully disagree with the idea. Magazines of this nature are designed for entertainment and not education. The reason for that is because entertainment sells better then educational material. Take video games for instance. Video games would be better suited for educational purposes over entertainment.
