Twenty years ago I was taught they were one continent, kids going to the same school I went to today are taught they are separate continents. I'm sure there are history books in some countries that refer to Native Americans as "Indians" to this very day. We disregard those as well instead of trying to sound intelligent using outdated and factually wrong language.
