Romance seems like a difficult genre to be a fan of if toxic elements turn you off. That's like, the point of 3/4 of romance media.As my big anime ranking project last year showed, romance is a love/hate genre for me. It can get incredibly bad. When it's good, though, it's the best! I don't mind suffering through the multitude of stinkers to find the occasional gem. Something has to fill out the lower tiers in my anime ranking, after all. I also don't want to make it sound like romance anime needs to be all light and fluffy with zero drama. I just despise certain kinds of drama. I feel like a lot of stories use tropes like contrived misunderstandings that could be solved with a ten second conversation as a crutch. There's still a lot of potential for growth and conflict between two good people who are doing their best, and I find that kind of story far more rewarding. --- **R.O.B.A.Z.O.I.D** (On mobile) ...
