Tbh, small amounts not much other than it'll run a bit crap and possibly lead to a bit of rust sooner than later.

If larger amounts it prob won't even start. The true damage actually only happens when there's notable amount of water and the engine is already running, it hydrolocks and can/will bend/break piston rods and sometimes other stuff related to the cylinder.

There's actually a chemical one can add that'll turn into glass inside the engine, which is what they used during the cash for clunkers automotive genocide. Sugar would be a softcore version of that and be a pita regardless.

Also I find this video a bit weird, it's like he's claiming it as his... so some sort of repressed projection.
