Say a dirty back check knocks a guy into the boards and he ends up paralyzed, or a batter gets smoked in the head with a fastball causing a significant loss in brain function or something awful like that. Would the victim be able to sue the checker?

I'm fully in favor of better helmets and neck guards and all the details here. But if people want to start suing for bad sports plays, dirty or accidental, does this not open those doors? (Or are they open already and nobody's bothered to actually go that route? I don't actually know).
Fuck that! I don't care if it's a game. You hurt someone seriously then you get punished by the government.
