Even after the change, France still has one of the lowest retirement ages in the world. The funding for it doesn't just magically appear out of nowhere; it's taken from younger people who actually work for their income, who are likely struggling far more financially than the people who want to retire are.

If it was just for those who need it and aren't able to work, sure, I'd be okay with that, but universal pensions are just yet another way for boomers to take everything for themselves.

(EDIT: For clarity, "pension" where I live refers to a near-unconditional payment anyone over 65 can receive from the government. The only other qualifier besides age is how long you've lived in the country; and whether you have a partner can affect the amount. I believe in some places it refers to more like a savings or investment account you can't touch until you reach a certian age; I have nothing against that kind of thing.)
