The problem with your "logic" is that you're assigning a target audience to a movie that didn't have one for the sake of making an "argument".

But when a movie or any other form of media is geared towards a specific demographic, then that demographic's opinion of it does matter a lot more than others who may be reviewing it from a position of bad faith.

If, for example, you make a coming-of-age movie about a gay teenager intended to help other gay teens understand themselves and others better, the opinions of that demographic and how they receive it are what matters, not the bigoted boomer chuds who are going to scream "woke" at it.

I mean you say this but I garantee if someone said "I don't care what gay people think, this movie/book etc is for straights." you would instantly disown this viewpoint instead of championing it.

Especially if it was someone "chud"esq. Like Clint Eastwood.

Either way, even if it doesn't bother you, you're egotystical if you can't see why it bothers others.
