Topic | why is pants referred to as a pair |
Accrovideogames 11/08/23 12:11:46 AM #15: | In French, "pantalon" is singular. It's only plural if we're talking about more than one. Some people erroneously use the phrase "une paire de pantalons" (a pair of pants), which is an anglicism. What's grammatically correct in one language isn't necessarily the case in another. The influence of English in media is responsible for a lot of grammatical errors in many other languages.
