It may get into your ventilation/ceiling and eventually wander inside, get trapped and shit everywhere.

Happened with my apartment :(

Your average bat can slip through spaces/cracks about as narrow as the thickness of dime and it doesn't need to be very wide either. Their fur makes them look thicker then they are and their bodies are oily and flexible.

Kinda similar to rats or cats ability to fit through shockingly small spaces.

I'd recommend taking a close look at your home for any openings and take measures to fix any cracks and see if its possible to add some anti bat/bird covers to things chimney or vents. Building a bat house nearby may encourage them to roost their instead of on/in your home as well.

Because many bats are protected so it may be illegal to remove it without it actually entering the living areas or being aggresive/rabid. Also it eats pest bugs like Mosquitoes.

Yeah, an exterminator told me that bats and mice can enter an opening the size of a dime.
