The internet as a whole is less fun. It's no long a haven for nerds from the real world. Internet humor is no longer restricted to just the internet. Most sites are owned by large companies and commercialized to the point of feeling soulless.

Also the world in general is much faster than it was say 20 years ago. Technology has gone from bringing us together to isolating up more than ever. We've gotten older and have different things pulling at out attention and wallets.
