Gotham Knights is completely about Batman not being around and his apprentices taking over. The advantage these games have (movies too really) is that they're not comic books that are intended to continue forever. They can plan our narratives and character arcs that have solid endings and the universe can continue on (which can also change up gameplay opportunities as well).
