[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

It is merely the emboldenment of having Trump in office. Once he showed up many of the previously underground neo-Nazi movements popped out as being flagrantly racist/sexist was no longer a thing that instantly caused you societal issues around the world. With this increased reach people on the fence, of which Rowling is the easy example to point to, where their overall views were highly scummy but they still felt that they needed to hold appearances started to waver until the entire thig broke and they just went full mask-off. That is when Rowling started hanging around with Nazis, funding Nazi movements, etc. and it feels like there was such an extreme slide recently in part because most of the stuff prior to this were things that were locked behind not being in the US and thus the average person from the US was unlikely to hear about it. With Twitter becoming so infested that people can show off their Nazi tattoos with no repercussions it is just the follow-up to what was happening before and now even the average American is able to come across the JKR dreck.
