It's been pointed out to me, as I listen to the radio, more than once that Bibi has always needed Hamas and the threat of them to stay in power. As long as they're around, he can gesture and say, "See? Imagine how much worse it'd be without me. Only I can keep you safe!"

And as long as Bibi is around, Hamas can say, "Look, all he wants to do is eradicate Palestine!"

It's been a sympathetic relationship from the start. Unless he manages to completely erase Palestine and gets to play hero/conqueror, Netanyahu will always benefit from what Hamas is doing.

I'm not sure there's a big enough event to have him displaced from power?
