Depends on the company. I work for 2 simultaneously from home and each take less than 20 hrs of work a week. I probably put in around 25-30 hrs total and I get paid for basically 80.

I had to job hop IT jobs over the course of a year to get this perfect combo and I've learned that for every company in IT that is willing to overwork you, there's another that pays the same and assigns a modest amount of work and don't care what you do as long as it's done by the agreed upon date.
This. I've been in IT for 14 years and have always been salary. Most of my jobs have never overworked me. The couple that have tried, I didn't allowed them to do so. Do I have weeks where I'm working 10-12 hour days to get multiple projects done? Sure but that makes up 2-4 weeks out of my year. The rest of the time I'm doing 20 hours a week at most. If you're being overworked in IT then you're allowing yourself to be overworked.
