skulltrumpets 10/29/23 9:37:04 PM #23: | Subterranean Sunrise has such a killer intro. The sparse plucking sound setting up the rest of this track. This is a killer song. Especially when it switches to something that feels kind of Risk of Rain-esque. Such a strong, solid track. It'll be pretty difficult to beat this one. I just love how pleasing League music is on my ears. Even when it's a genre I'm not hot on, the production is just so good and immersive. The soundscape is really top notch in this one. The rustling, like sand in the wind, the flutes and drums ... it really feels like a joyous movement unfolding. A really close match we have here. The Stygian Study is pretty good stuff. I really like how it picks up pace towards the end. Wish there was more of that. Dude I love scary milfs. This theme is so smoky and slippery, this cool jazz sax riff right out of something like L.A. Noire, combined with those drums and sinister strings. It is dangeorus, but in a way that's so, so stylish. This is such a sick combo that I don't get often. I also, in my beautiful ability to forget to read video descriptions, did not know Two Feathers worked on this. I only know them from Hellsinger but talk about a style shift. Anyway, this is great, probably my favourite League song. Or at least my favourite in recent years. I cannot in good faith dunk on LoL because of Renata Glasc. I like the rhythm at the beginning, it kinda reminds me of water drops. Not sure if this dry lake is meant to be aboveground or underground, but I'm kind of thinking about a big cave structure here. And then it just hits you with a strong, heavy melody. Man, but when it goes all quiet again might just be my favourite. I think if a song remains high energy it sometimes becomes a slurry of sounds to me. I know I said that stuff about Renata Glasc making it impossible to shit on League, but K'sante's theme might just be better. The rhythm is so cool, drums beating in a pattern like a war song. And the vocals really do remind me of Nilah's theme as well. A sense of joy and self expression. That part where they stop for a second and it all goes silent ... before it doubles down on the intensity?? Oh my God so good. Not going to comment on the snubs match because what the fuck those are a lot of songs, but the Arcaea one was such a pleasant surprise.
