I may or may not have done something stupid that caused a delay in my Questy Chess, uh, quest. So, for now you get...

Currently Playing: A Joke That's Worth 0.99 Cents

What Is It? A Game That's Not Worth 0.99 Cents

Gameplay Overview: Your Playdate shows a Playdate on your screen and when you turn your crank the crank on the Playdate turns. Your goal is to bounce a guy around back and forth on the virtual crank, popping stars as they appear. Each time you pop a star, you get the next line in the joke and you keep popping until you get to the punchline.

Here's Some Pictures!

Thoughts:
-This is the first Playdate game I'm playing that isn't part of season 1. I went to the catalogue and I looked through the games, and this was the one that stuck out to me because I was like "wait what the hell is this" so points for the name at least, I guess?
-There's actually TWO jokes here. What a steal!
-One joke is worth a penny and there's two stars you pop so I clear it like my second try.
-The second joke is worth 99 cents (according to the name of the mode - I have my doubts). There's like maybe 50 stars. Or 100? 12? I have no idea. There's a decent amount.
-I beat it in like 15 minutes.
-Uh. That's it.
-No seriously, that's it. The game ends there. It's $1, so, sure. But also...hey I need to find another game now.
-I guess I'll post full thoughts tomorrow, but for the time being, it isn't very good. It is not worth a dollar, so this is FALSE ADVERTISING I WANT MY MONEY BACK.
-You just bounce the guy around for a while. There's no high score mode or endless mode or anything, you just complete the joke and then you're done. The crank thing works ok but it does feel largely pointless.
-The most outrageous thing is the jokes are terrible and you don't even get to hear them really. Each time you pop a star, you move onto the next line of dialogue. However, if you pop another star while that line is still being spoken, you skip that line and move on to the next one. So I was hearing like every third or fourth line sometimes and just skipping around the joke. Hey you know my favorite joke? The one that is cutting in and out like you are talking to someone while driving through a tunnel.
-Here are both jokes. SPOILERS.
-What do you call a meeting between two lispers? A spraydate! Haha because like Playdate guys.
-Three guys are sitting at a bar. A fairy shows up and offers them each three wishes. The first guy wishes for a millions dollars. The second guy wishes for ten million. The third guy wishes for bouncy butt, which is weird but the fairy grants it to him. For their second wish, the first guy wishes to own his own island. The second guy, not to be outdone, wishes for ten islands. And then the third guy, hearing what they wished for, wishes to be an inch tall. Finally, for their final wishes, the first guy wishes for a beautiful wife. The second one decides to up that and wishes for ten wives. Finally, the third guy wishes to be forever bounced up and down on a Playdate. They agree to meet up in ten years to talk about their lives. When they do, the first guy is happy. He donated a bunch of his money to charity and him and his wife are living happily on his island. The second guy is even happier. He sails back and forth between his islands to visit his wives. Then the third guy speaks up.

-That's it. That's the joke.
-I feel cheated out of 99 pennies.

Time Played: 30 minutes. I beat the game somewhere in the 15-20 minute range and then tried again because I wasn't sure if I'd get a different ending. I did not.
High Score: There is no high score in this game.
Beaten? Yep.
Grade: Very low. 3 probably. There is a little bit of fun bouncing around for a bit but they didn't really add a game part here.
Favorite Part So Far: There is this really poorly sung song that gets played before you start either of the jokes and in the longer version one of the lines is something like "the longest joke in the world!" and then if you play the short version, someone cuts over it and says in this weird monotone voice SHORTEST instead of longest. That made me smile.
