Sonic is by far the most successful attempt, to date. For Smash specifically, the IP breadth alone, makes the barrier to entry extremely high; Warner Bros, Sony, & Nickelodeon have all tried, & none have succeeded. I suppose Disney has never attempted a Smash clone, but can you seriously see Disney allowing Aladdin to smash Mickey's face in, in a semi serious tone? --- Remember kids, it's only an RPG until someone gets hit with a meteor; Then it's a JRPG!
