The more time goes on the more I realize that the modern day use of "politics" is literally just to shut down ideas and discussion because of the whole "don't talk about religion or politics" taboo. It's like some magic word you can just label anything and then demand no one ever question you. It's always been like this. You can go back 30 years and you see the same complaint about 'politically correct movies' from male critics.
