The conflict existed long before UK even existed.
You might remember when Christians sent Crusaders to the Middle East? Same conflict.
The Muslims kicked out the Crusaders and owned the place. They allowed Jews to move in, and it was peaceful between them most of the time for hundreds of years.
Then two things happened.
1: A global movement of allowing Jews getting their own state in their holy land, which the Arabs and Muslims already living there were against because it was their land.
2: The younger Arab generation got inspired by Western democracy that whispered promises of creating new Arabic ruled states that would create their own destiny.
...behind the scene, Britain, France and Russia planned to cut it up in equally owned political och economical spheres.
So while Britain didnt directly cause this mess, they made it worse.
