The real problem is the moderates aren't being listened to. Despite not wanting to run themselves, they said the person the person should not be an election denier. Unfortunately the only people that seem to really want the job are election deniers.

Their protest votes are showing the Republican party exactly what they mean. Anyone but this guy.

Because Jim Jordan would have been a disaster.

But they voted for McCarthy, who voted to overturn the 2020 election. And a lot of them supported Scalise, who also voted to overturn 2020 and in his own words is, "David Duke without the baggage." McHenry is the only non-election denier they've seriously backed.

Their opposition clearly isn't to fascism or racism but just to letting a Freedom Caucus guy run the chamber, because they would rather the party collapse than let another wing gain control of it.
