I dont think Whitewater Wipeout deserves to be that low. Just because its not a full game doesnt make it bad. It can be an addictive little high score chaser, and its a cool showcase for what the crank can do. It achieves exactly what it sets out to do, and thats more than you can say for half the games on that list

Yeah, I was also debating flipping Whitewater Wipeout with Lost Your Marbles, specifically. Looking back I started Lost Your Marbles on 9/10 and didn't finish until 9/22 even with the short story length. That's definitely the bit where the project dragged the most and where I was most forcing myself to play through the game.

I guess part of my issue isn't just that it wasn't a "full game" but that they didn't really try to do anything to it but show off how the crank works. Flipper Lifter, for example, gives you five different levels and little goals to unlock each. That's at least something that shows they were thinking a bit about how to build on more than just a demo for the crank. Flipper Lifter was borderline broken at times, but I still had more fun with it than Whitewater Wipeout and its works much better as an arcade style point chaser.

Like in Whitewater Wipeout you have a set end state. In Flipper Lifter, while things get harder and harder you at least feel like you could extend your play time if you play well. In Whitewater Wipeout, the wave just ends in a minute. You basically try to string a handful of big jumps together and then see what score you get. I also admit point chaser games like this work less well for me than a lot of people and even big names in the genre I tend to get bored with.

I agree that Whitewater Wipeout achieves what it sets out to do. It's just that what it sets out to do isn't interesting to me. I think it is a good demo. I just think it isn't a very fun game. I'll go back and play Flipper Lifter once in a while in spite of it being broken at times. I have no intention of going back to Whitewater Wipeout.

(Your mileage may vary, of course, and it is FREE and is a good starting point to show off the crank so it probably is still worth checking out!)

From the sounds of it it seems like most games on this console are like that. A showcase of what they could do but no one actually doing it.

I agree with TomNook that Crankin actually not only shows what you can do, but pulls it off. It requires both fast and super precise movement, in close conjunction with each other, and I don't think you could play this on another console and have the same experience.

I'm really going to have to check out Gun Trails here soon. Pick Pack Pup and Crankin are definitely my top two at the moment, and Nook keeps throwing Gun Trails in there with them as well. I don't really care if something is crankless as long as its fun!
