To be fair, that describes many popular and successful game franchises that are can also be genuinely good. It's not necessarily a bad thing. Games where they have a formula and play style and the next additions are just the same thing with a new gimmick.

Street Fighter, Tekken, Dead or Alive, Souls games, Monster Hunter, Mario Kart, CoD/MW, to name some..

It does yes, & that's why for the same reasons I jumped off of CoD after Black Ops 2, got bored of MH for a fair bit of time after I'd done so much in World & jumped on Rise only once I got a steam deck two years after it launched & was on sale.

Series' need to innovate over time & Mario doing a new gimmick for another platformer doesn't change up the formula enough for me. Look at wild hearts for instance which was a "we have monster hunter" at home meme. The unique building mechanic for fighting monsters, didn't ultimately save that game even though MH could do with competition. Partly because EA/Koei didn't want to invest in it, but also because it doesn't have name brand recognition to carry it.

People in here shilling for Mario after people simply give their opinions proves that even if the games have gotten stale or too formulaic, given that it's Mario, or pokemon, or Zelda. Even if they don't change a lot of shit, that recognition gets it sales anyways. Conversations around Nintendo products usually end up being a waste of time because it's going to sell no matter what, & being a minority voice in it means people like Torgo will act as they do regardless, so letting it just be a circle jerk because the dogpile isn't worth the effort.
