Part of the Hasan Minaj controversy was argument over what authenticity in stand up comedy means and whether people should expect exaggeration or falsehoods in standup.

But even then, Minaj's use of identifiable information for the private persons he lied about, and his general presentation of his stories as true, earned him broad criticism from a field that skews left wing. I don't really see the comparison to "alternative facts", the idea of telling fake stories as "emotional truth" is not really accepted by the left, and Bill Maher is practically a center-right conservative these days.

That's the other thing, the left generally across the board, are likely to call out their own and be the harshest critics of those who are supposed to be on the same "side" - sometimes passing judgement too soon or to a fault.

There really is no comparison here other than trying to prop up the right by scrambling to draw a false equivalence between a comedian most of us never head of lying about his past, and the leader of an entire political party lying about everything.
