Whether you saw it that way, that's the purpose of "horseshoe theory" - it's a means to saddle the entire left with the worst actions of their fringe so they can give the flood of daily awfulness from the right a free pass.

Each extreme will inevitably use very similar tactics and talking points, such that you can switch around some key nouns and it's verbatim a quote from the other extreme or description of something they've done.

More like the extreme fringes on the left and maybe the odd celebrity or two VS mainstream conservatism and elected republicans.

It's another form of "same thing both sides" but slightly more specific in how it disingenuously equivocates.
