As an atheist, I find I don't like atheists who make being atheist a core facet of their personalities, the same way I am uncomfortable around people who make their faith the main facet of who they are and what they talk about.

Two sides of the same coin.

It's the ones who try to 'logic' or 'science' people out of their beliefs that piss me off. As if logic has anything to do with faith. They are just as bad as people who try and 'prove' the existence of god, argue for ID, etc.

They are arrogant enough to think people who are religious somehow lack their intellectual ability, when there are deeply religious people who are vastly more intelligent and capable of 'critical thinking' than they are. Always have been.

I hate the bigotry and violence that accompanies religion I think it should have no place in government or legislation. Beyond that, I think that everyone should be free to believe or not believe, without being subjected to the insufferable, unjustified, superiority of the self-righteous.

(Oh, and the art, music, and architecture produced by religion is great. Would atheism have done as well? Doesn't matter. We are where we are).
