Still Playing: Echoic Memory (Con't Pt. 2)

Thoughts:
-Do you know of the Greek muses? The nine goddess sisters? Um there were five in Hercules but sure carry on.
-Each muse embodied a particular interest in art or science. But all of them loved music. Who doesnt? Except for me now, because of Boogie Loops.
-This thing gives me a brief Greek mythology lesson even though I didnt ask for one and started whining loudly when it started. These things cant take a hint.
-Oh no Im terrible at music.
-The first one in this fourth act takes me, no joke, ten times to figure out. There was something about the type of the music that my ears just werent picking up right, particularly with the slightly off key versions I was getting to match with. The timer was kind of brutal here too and I was struggling to get it done in time.
-And then I beat the second one on my first try. That one sounded more violin-y, I think? Not sure but whatever it was had a much more easy to identify melody even with the distortion.
-These things are now just giving me history of music lessons from Wikipedia, I think. I miss the gobbledygook.
-Yeah this chapter 4 story is following a pretty straight path. ECM shows up and starts talking about Greek mythology music lesson, particularly focused on wind vs string and what was holy and what was crude. Then I do music. Then the robot just starts talking about a happy memory from their childhood. The story from the previous robot continues on the next so I dont think this part can be procedurally generated like the others.
-Also this is actually getting tough now. There are sixteen I have to mix and like four of them will sound very similar and you have to tune things just right. Im starting to come back around on this one a little bit. It isnt my favorite but I'm getting more into the gameplay, for sure.
-The myth being covered here is some dude challenging Apollo to a music off with the muses being the judges. The judges declare Apollo the winner when he starts to sing while playing his harp. Damn Apollo always cheating with his beautiful singing voice.
-Marsyas could not use his breath to both play the aulos and sing at the same time. So he lost. This is why you always got to bring backup vocalists to a music contest against the god of music, man.
-This robots favorite thing is listening to music while driving. Hey! Thats one of my favorite things! Maybe I am a robot. I do babble a lot and go on endless tangents about Greek music contests apropos of nothing.
-As punishment for challenging a god and losing, Apollo tortured and killed Marsyas. I feel like thats also the punishement for challenging a god and winning, sometimes.
-Also, Marsyas, you gotta read that fine print before you start just randomly challenging gods man. Feel like this is partly on you.
-Marsyas was strung up inside a cave, andthis part is really gross. Oof. You know its gonna be bad when a robot is like nah man you dont want to hear this part. Imagine if you Googled something and Google was like trust me you dont want to search for eye surgery videos Im going to show you kitten pictures instead.
-Apollo skinned Marsyas alive and left him to die. Oh phew. I thought he was going to make a lute out of his intestines or something.
-I ask why the hell its telling me this and the ECM is like oh so many people mourned his death they all cried a river and named it Marsyas and some people say it is still flowing today. Which people? Whos been telling you that? Crazy people? You cant listen to crazy people and their theories that rivers are actually giant flowing puddles of tears. You should know better, smart speaker.
-Hell yeah just completed a 16 matcher by the skin of my teeth. Am I started to kinda like this again? Maybe? I cant tell if I do or if Im just relieved I dont have to replay that one.
-A story? Well I wish I like, could explain the perfect horror of once finding a vending machine humming alone in the dark countryside at 3 in the morning. I feel like anything in a dark countryside at 3 in the morning is a little scary but Im sorry you found a rest stop and didnt know how to handle it.
-ECM: Apollo stopped playing music after that. Decided to get full time into torturing huh?
-I really hope this is the last Apollo story because I am BORED with the 74th most interesting Greek myth of all time.
-Many years later, Apollo repented for his unnecessary cruelty. Im sure the flayed long dead corpse of other guy appreciated it.
-ECM: We think bout that story a lot lately. They mythical link between music and memory. Uh huh. You sure you computers are thinking about it because of that and not because of the whole flaying a human alive aspect of the story?
-The ECM keeps going on about what they are. They can make sounds of string and wind despite having no strings or breath. We have no mouths and we must sing. I dont think thats the quote. Also you guys havent sung at all, as far as I can tell.
-Woo hoo! ACT 4 BEAT. If my intel is right (Playdate Podcast), only one act left to go.
-Im getting better at sort of getting the guesser songs close enough to the actual thing and then listening for the similarities. Its picking up a bit for me for sure. I still wouldnt say its great but its working its way out of the bottom ranks.

Time Played: I'm going to guess five hours but I have no clue how accurate that is.
High Score: One of these groups had like six songs I thought were catchy.
Beaten? Almost, I think.
Grade: Might be up to a 5 thanks to me finally getting into it a bit. A low 6? I dunno, it's going up though for sure.
Favorite Part So Far: One of these I was like "aw fuck I'm not going to make it" because I had like eight left with barely any battery. I strung off a string of quick matches and cleared it right before the battery went out. I was looking for someone to high five but alas it was like 1 am and everyone else was asleep.
