There comes a certain point where civilians are in fact responsible for their government.

They have no power to oppose Hamas and there hasn't been an election in 17 years. Over 40% of the Gazan population are children under 14 years old. The average age of citizens in Gaza is 18. All they know is the violence they are subjected to on a daily basis by the oppressive state. While I vehemently opposed Hamas ideology and actions, I can empathize and understand why some civilians are in support. If their daily experience is violence from the oppressive state, then no shit they'll support whatever group that is fighting back whether done rightfully or wrongfully even if its an extremist group like Hamas.
