I used to live in an apartment that had them and we dealt with it for about a year. Sometimes there would be a good amount of them (never "infestation" levels like you see in pics, but a dozen or so at worst), other times they'd seem to migrate to another apartment within the building before coming back in numbers again. So I guess we were the only ones diligent about controlling them. Eventually we moved into a house and made a great effort not to move them with us. Bed bug free for 5 years. It really is hell, and we didn't even have it that bad.

Sometimes I'll get a mosquito bite (bed bug bites feel similar to one in my case, except it's usually a cluster of bites) and frantically check my bed and upholstery for those bastards just in case. I remember one night in particular in that old apartment, I went in a circle around my room between about 5 or 6 different spots killing a bug in each spot, and by the time I got around to each spot again there would be a new one to kill in the last one's place. This went on for about an hour until they stopped... well, respawning.

They really are a parasite that has no business being on this planet. They don't do shit for anything.
