To play devil's advocate; I would argue that this isn't exclusively from viewers being unfair, but from the trend of more female protagonists arising at the same time the quality of writing in a lot of modern media has gotten worse. It's not that modern writers are creating the same kinds of characters which audiences simply hate because they're women. It's rather that, at the same time writers are creating more female characters, they are also handling the same tropes and plot devices worse. --- THIS IS WHAT I HATE A BOUT EVREY WEBSITE!!
