Game #6 Complete! Pick Pack Pup

Final Thoughts: I'm not "done" done with this one I don't think as I could definitely see myself coming back to play this some more. Speedrun mode and Chill mode in particular both are likely to get some more play. I improved my speedrun time to sub 35 but that included two stages I forgot the objective for initially and failed, so I'm positive I could shave another 6 minutes or so off my time with a decent run. And Chill Mode I keep getting to like the 7th out of 10 puzzles and making a stupid mistake and quitting out of RAGE and FRUSTRATION. Those two are fun to play around in thought and I'm almost positive I'll come back.

Overall, this was a fun little puzzler. I am, overall, sort of tired of tile matching games and they have to be pretty good to hold my attention for very long. And this one is pretty good! It is a very basic set up and I do feel like part of the game feels a little aimless. There is a lot of good stuff here but then there's also stuff where I feel like they didn't really get the most out of the concept. Take the time attack mode, which could be fun but then it only sets it for two minutes and it feels like they didn't really consider what people like about these tile matching games. About half of of the story mode doesn't have a fail state and you're just kind of putzing around some, too. And story mode is short. I like all the different ways they iterate off of the concept here, but there's only 30 levels and it feels like they could've gotten more out of it. There is this trend of introducing a fun idea, letting you play around with it, but never really challenging you with it. There isn't that stage that really makes you tear your hair out because its hard, and I really wanted some of those to help tie things together.

Still, fun game. Lots of good ideas here. A couple of fun extra modes that really help add some longevity to the game in a real way. I'm playing this because I'm trying to top my high scores and not because the game is forcing me to if I want to see the best ending (like Lost Your Marbles). It is also the first one here I could see myself going back to. I think Crankin is still the best game overall, but it doesn't really have much in terms of replay. There's plenty in Pick Pack Pup to really sink your teeth into and I appreciate that.

Should You Play It? Yep, definitely. Particularly if you like these sort of tile matching puzzle games, this is one of the better ones I've played recently

Final Score: I'll go with a 7. Like, a totally solid 7. One step under Crankin for me still just because of how clever that game was, but this is a good simple game that does a lot with what it has. And it doesn't even use the crank all that much! You can put normal games on here too, I guess.
