Like, wanting to have beer at a social gathering is normal. But if the host explicitly disallows alcohol then you should probably just play by their rules I suppose. As controlling as that may be. When we had our shower we invited a lot of extended family that we hadnt seen since the pandemic. We wouldnt dream of telling them what to bring because we werent close enough for that. I felt really bad inviting people I wasnt close with but my mom insisted. Yeah. This was supposed to be immediate family and close friends but then MiL decided to make it a family reunion with her extended family we've never met.
