It's honestly a slap on the wrist. I'm a cyclist I've been hit 3 times by drivers and have had trash thrown at me aggressive moves made at me to run me off the road and so forth. Most drivers have an irrational seething hatred of cyclists because they slow them down from reaching their destination by seconds and it upsets them to have to wait. I would not be surprised AT ALL if this kid gets less than a year in jail honestly. Slaps on the wrist for murdering a person. Use a gun? Easiest 20 years of jail to the court. However USE A CAR to kill someone riding a bike, 5 years of jail or less. Disgusting. Absolutely infuriating to read this. Knowing those teens deliberately hit a cyclist and are laughing and thinking they are going to get less than 30 days in jail and will likely get away with it despite being intentional kills me on the inside. I'm honestly curious about pedestrian murders by cars now. I imagine those are worse since they aren't in the "warzone"/street like cyclists are.
