Unless the person caught on camera is acting in a professional capacity where they can expect to be recorded or they are acting egregiously in the wrong, I tend to feel for the people having their lives unwillingly put on spectacle for the entire internet world. Even if they are in the wrong, most people don't deserve to have their lives ruined by a moment's poor judgment. A citation for assault to this woman would be less damaging than a recording situation that caused her to lose even more control over her behavior. There are a lot of people who are both mentally ill and racist, a combination which creates for some very unfortunate situations, but it typically doesn't justify the disproportionate reaction brought on by the online community, absent significant violence or injury. It didn't help that COVID put a void of meaning in many peoples' lives, leading to increased attention toward random private people.
