| Topic | Hypothetically Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo stop making consoles. Who's first? |
| C-zom 09/20/23 6:29:09 PM #1: | I've been thumbing through the Microsoft court documents and some discussion threads and it's very interesting stuff. Apparently, Microsoft was going to cash it in after the Xbone and put all of their energy into PC gaming and Windows. Shuffling billions of dollars in R&D budget to strictly making games and being a figurehead in that category. Their CEO pitched Gamepass hard, and won, keeping the Xbox alive for this generation.
It got me thinking of Gamepass and the overall landscape for consoles. I wonder if any of the three would be the next to drop out of the "console wars" who it would be realistically. I'd personally say Nintendo, I know their e-shop and network infrastructure is still from the 90s. But I don't think a Switch 2 would sell nearly as well as the first, at least among my friends I've asked.
