It would instantly become congress where they vote for higher salaries, more time off and do nothing but hide their own corruption. i see what you're saying as it's a conflict of interest, but our teachers are incredibly underpaid and the current system leads to bloated admin salaries anyways. there needs to be some sort of oversight, but i also think teachers should have more power in determining school policy. i can only read the beginning of the article you linked as i refuse to make an account, but it looks like that article is about giving underpaid teachers performance-based bonuses. it's not right for them to cheat on that, but i'm also sadly not surprised. if they were able to bargain for higher salaries in the first place this wouldn't be an issue. i don't think this story is proof that giving teachers more control would produce bad results. ...
