On the subject of Monolith help or Nintendo development, the problem is actually that Gamefreak hasn't hired that many new people, and while more cooks in the kitchen isn't necessarily better, there's actually bigger problem because they refuse to hire more people. They grandfathered in a LOT of people from their GBC/GBA era. They're sprite experts, but they might as well be indie level in terms 3D graphics. This results in a lot of people who are fairly ineffective. You might as well discount 10-20 people from their dev team.

They have the money to keep those people on the team AND hire more people who are competent. Gamefreak development is also so detached from Nintendo. IIRC they did get Monolith's help, but even the main games Nintendo makes are still mostly developed in-house and getting heavy support from Monolith and else in terms of optimization and making things look nicer than the system is capable of. If Gamefreak is incompetent, it won't matter even if they did get Monolith's help

Monolith has like 5 studios now. They are capable of developing like 5 games at once if they so wished, just that most of those studios are delegated to support/co-development nowadays. We know this cuz they're usually credited as special thanks or support lul. At the time of XC2, they only had 2 studios and the bigger half of the entire company went to developing Odyssey and BOTW. So they're only gonna become a bigger and bigger part of Nintendo's devs. They have enough ppl on hand to delegate to co-developing a Pokemon game.

I doubt they want to tho
