I support the ban btw, as well as banning any other dog breed selectively bred for aggression/capacity for violence, but this is just a stubborn, intentional misunderstanding of the argument.

While I support banning pit bulls and other adjacent breeds (and pit bulls have been banned here in the UK for a good while now), there are definitely people who are completely obsessive about the topic who are either susceptible to racial dogwhistling or are partaking in racial dogwhistling themselves. They aren't being "racist" against pit bulls, but they are being racist to racial minorities by trying to compare them to pitbulls, or otherwise argue that different human races have inherent behavoural traits like selective dog breeds.
