You can't climb the social ladder in the fandom without spending a lot of money, unless you're a talented artist or content creator. I sometimes call it a "pay-to-win fandom." If you want a large following with little work, spend thousands on a brand name fursuit or tons of furry art/porn of your OC. Lol I used know Mr "fursuite" and yes, that person was/is very materialistic and all about being a popufur.
