Yeah, ideologically speaking, it doesn't hold up to the slightest bit of scrutiny. It's incredibly juvenile. Not that The Batman is a model of political maturity, but in my opinion, it's a much better well made movie overall, and far less self-important and ultimately more character-based, so it just sells itself better.

I like the batman better but your takes on the dark knight are incorrect.

The movie doesn't try to say batman is perfect or morally right for what he is doing. He lies, he steals, and he ultimately is forced to kill to save people, but it isn't even him who stops the jokers plan, its the will of the very people joker was terrorizing.

Batmans point in that movie is that he does the morally culpable things so no one else has to, and he takes with that the fallout of those decisions, both in his personal life and in his persona. This is the entire point of the monologue at the end of the film and why it's titled the way it is. Hes not a moral upright stalwart beacon of goodness like dent was trying to be, hes the guy in the dark that will do whatever is necessary to save as many as he can.

That he can solve some crime with his money is irrelevant in this film as joker doesn't care about money, can't be bought, can't be bribed. He is an agent of chaos and some men just want to watch the world burn.
