Marineford would be too much of a downer ending, whereas Return to Sabaody would have the crew reunite with each other and set off on their new adventure with renewed optimism. Open the season with Sabaody, then show scenes of the crew doing stuff on their respective islands while Luffy is going through Amazon Lily, Impel Down, and the Marineford War, like they were doing with Koby, Garp, and Helmeppo this season.
