Lizards and Snakes are closely related. They are in the same order (i think) called Squamate.

And while we are at it. People debate where turtles should go. Some people don't think they are reptiles at all. (but that is a rare outlook but it exist)

Edit to add. There are legless lizards. That look like snakes, but mouth is that of a lizard and if you cut off their tails it would grow back.
